The Escape Rooms

I've arrived and the door is locked!

This isn't a puzzle, we are simply up stairs preparing your game. Hang out for a few moments and we'll be down as quick as we can. If you need access urgently, or your start time passes, give us a call.

Do you have parking?

We have spaces behind our building, just off Abbey Lane, SN1 3FE. They are marked 165 C, 165 G & 165 K. Details of how to find us are in our Arrival Instructions, or follow Directions on Google.

What if we are running late?

Each of our booking slots includes 10 minutes for your briefing for the room, so a few minutes delay should be ok. Try to arrive for the time your booking slot is made for. If you arrive too early, we may be resetting the room from the previous group. If you are running late, please give us a call as soon as you can. If you arrive too late on a busy day, we will need to deduct time off your room.

How long does it take?

Estimated time with us 90 mins. The Escape Games last for up to 60 minutes, the aim of which is to escape in under that time frame. We also allow 15 minutes either side for briefing, pictures and getting to know our guests.

How much does it cost?

Our pricing works on a sliding structure, the more people in a single experience the cheaper it is per person. Please follow the BOOK NOW link to see our current prices. If you have a large group and wish to book multiple rooms across multiple sessions, please contact us via e-mail with details of your group size and when you would like to play.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Our online booking calendar is live 24/7 and bookings for rooms are available up to 4 months in advance. We advise anyone booking multiple experiences or for larger groups to book as far in advance as possible to secure a specific date. For single bookings we tend to see peak times starting to fill up 2 weeks in advance.

What is your maximum capacity for large bookings?

We can host a maximum of 19 guests per hour across our 3 Escape Rooms. We can accommodate bookings for a larger number of guest, over a slightly longer time frame. This will include staggered arrival of teams with the possibility of using a local food/drinks venue as a meeting point for teams before and after the game. Is there a minimum age limit?

No, we do not have an enforced minimum age. However, we suggest ages 8 and up due to the complexities of the puzzle content and request that any young players are made fully aware of the theme and setting of the game. Any groups with children under the age of 16 will require an adult to attend with them to make sure they get the most out of the experience and to avoid unnecessary damage to our games.

I have booked my room, but I can no longer attend, what can I do?

We can issue a full refund or reschedule your booking with one week’s notice. We can provide a 50% refund with 48 hours’ notice. Our best advice is to contact us so we can sort it all out.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No everything you need to solve the room is included in the experience. If you require glasses for reading we strongly advise bringing them as all of our rooms contain some form of written instruction.

Will anyone else be in the room with my booking?

No, all bookings are exclusive. We do not put random groups of strangers together. There are also no live actors in the rooms with you.

Do I need to be really smart to solve the puzzles?

All of the information you require to solve the puzzles is inside the room, all we ask is that you have a can-do attitude and do your best to interpret the puzzles. If you get stuck, our games master will provide helpful hints to get you past any tricky bits.

What is your alcohol policy?

For everyone's safety and enjoyment, no alcohol or drugs are allowed at Cryptology. We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove anyone suspected of being under the influence.

Is there a way to simply leave the room in an emergency or if I need to?

Yes, all of our rooms have an emergency exit procedure, so you can get yourself out easily. These are all explained and pointed out during your briefing before the game begins.

If I need to leave the game, can my team continue?

Yes, if a team member needs to leave for a personal reason, the remaining team members can finish their game.

Can I take photos or video my escape?

We do not allow any filming or photography in the rooms as we do not want secrets leaked which could spoil future guests' enjoyment. We will offer to take a team photo at the end of your game, which will be e-mailed to individual who booked.

I have some specific requests as my booking is for a special occasion, can you help?

We have hosted Stag & Hen parties, birthdays and even a few engagements in our escape rooms. The short answer is YES, we will help to make your occasion even more special. Please contact us with details of your request.

Can we add additional players once booked?

Yes, please call our office and one of the team will be happy to help. If you have someone join your group last minute they can pay on arrival. Please note maximum room capacity will still be enforced.

I want to book one room for more than the capacity limit, can you squeeze an extra person in?

We have set our room capacities based on the puzzle content and workable space. If you have more guests than the maximum capacity you should consider booking multiple rooms and split your group into multiple teams. If you really wish to try, contact us with the details of how many players you would like to bring and when you would like to play.

Can we book off schedule or on a day when you are closed?

Occasionally we can delay an arrival time or accept an earlier start time, but this needs to be discussed and agreed with our staff. We are happy to accommodate large bookings of 10 or more guests on our closed days (subject to staff availability). We are open every day except Tuesdays, if you require a booking on a Tuesday please call our office, as this cannot be done through our website.

Are last minute bookings or walk ins possible?

Our calendar is appointment based and we cannot guarantee that our office is always manned. All of our escape rooms can be booked a minimum of 2 hours before the session start time, via our website. For anything less than 2 hours before the start time please call our office and we will see if it's possible.
